Let’s be real–we’ll use any excuse to throw together a good cheeseboard. Add in some wine and a fun DIY, and you’ve got the perfect girls night! The arrival of the Fall season seemed like the perfect occasion. I recently had a little wine, cheese, and craft night with my best Mama-friends, and several of you asked us to share more about it! Your wish is our command.

For our craft we each made a modern Fall mini-wreath. These are so simple and fun to make! Places like Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc. often have sales on their artificial greenery + floral stems, so if you snag some during a sale you’ll save a lot! For this craft you’ll need:

  • 12-inch gold hoop (we used these from Amazon)
  • artificial greenery + floral stems
  • floral wire
  • pliers or scissors
  • any other materials you want to add (yarn, lace, fabric strips, etc)

First, be sure to fluff, bend, and twist the stems out a little bit to give them a more natural, realistic look. A lot of faux florals and greenery come in bundles. You can attach the whole bundle or take apart the stems individually. Next, attach the stems of your choice to the wreath with the floral wire. We recommend attaching your largest bundles/stems first, then attaching the smaller/thinner stems to fill in the space. Below are a few of the wreaths we made! Now for the food portion of the evening… a good cheeseboard is always my go-to for hosting! It’s easy and fairly inexpensive to throw together for feeding quite a few people. Below are my faves when assembling a cheeseboard!

  • hard cheese (rosemary asiago)
  • medium cheese (smoked gouda and/or white cheddar)
  • soft cheese (goat cheese)
  • charcuterie (prosciutto, salami, etc.)
  • olives
  • crackers (Trader Joe’s fig + olive crackers, pita crackers)
  • fruit (grapes, berries, sliced apples)
  • jam (fig, peach)

As far as plating goes, you can get as creative as you want! I typically like to put each type of cheese on a different spot on the board. I slice up the hard and medium cheese, then mash up the goat cheese a bit and mix a little of the jam into it. Then I group each type of cheese with some crackers and charcuterie surrounding it. Then fill in the blank spaces with things like olives, pickles, berries, almonds, etc. Cheeseboards are always a big crowd-pleaser; you’ll be the hostess with the mostest!

Fall is the perfect season to show thankfulness for the people you love! I really love hosting, so putting together a little craft + cheeseboard night for my besties seemed like the perfect opportunity to celebrate them and just have fun together! Hosting can be nerve wracking sometimes, but it doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. Just invite a few people and make it simple! It’s really just about spending time together and having fun.
