Fall. Is. Almost. Here! I swear just yesterday I spotted some Fall leaves. A beautiful shade of orangey-brown. Okay…so they may have been normal leaves that were just burned up by the blazing hot Summer sun. Whatever. It counts sort of.

So many of you have admitted to already busting out the Fall decor. You’re our kind of people. We’re doing the same, and we couldn’t resist getting into the DIY spirit with this beautiful, whimsical Fall faux floral arrangement! We wrote up a little tutorial so you can make one of your own! The great thing about this kind of DIY is that it’s totally customizable. You can make it all your own using different colors, textures, styles, etc. Here are a couple tips for getting started:

1. For arrangements like this one, I typically like to group together 3-4 different types of stems: greenery, 1-2 florals, and an accent/filler stem. For this arrangement, I got all my supplies from Michael’s for 40% off! I actually kept almost all of the bundles together. The only bundle I tore individual stems off of was Floral 2 because they were larger flowers, and I only wanted a few so they would really pop and not crowd the arrangement.
2. Bend and twist the stems to give it a more natural look. This really makes all the difference. Faux stems typically come with all the leaves and flowers standing straight up, making them look…well, faux. Bending and twisting them to your liking helps them to look more realistic and blend together in the arrangment.

Next, begin arranging your stems! I’m no florist by any stretch, but this is my tried and true method, and I’m sticking to it!

1. First, add your greenery. I like to make it slightly asymmetrical with more of the stems leaning towards one side so the arrangement looks more natural/realistic. Just keep fluffing the stems until it looks the way you want.
2. Add your floral bundles. I used all of the first floral bundle, and just three of the flowers from the second.
3. Finally, add in your accent/filler where there are any gaps and empty space. You can skip the accent/filler stems for a simpler, more minimalistic arrangement. At CFL though, more is more and we like all the drama when it comes to floral arrangements 😉

The key to arranging faux stems is to just keep bending, twisting, and messing with them till you get the look you want. You’d be surprised at what you can create with faux stems!
