Hey CFL Friends! Meghan, here! Don’t you love when you find a simple, inexpensive way to revamp and refresh a space in your home?! I live in a little apartment in Austin that I LOVE, but I have to admit that apartment life can be a bummer when you can’t put much of your own personal touch on the space. So when I find a way to make a spot in my apartment feel a little more cozy and homey, it makes me so happy!

I was recently in the mood to do something crafty, so I headed to Goodwill to see what I could find that would spark some creativity in me. I was walking by the aisle FULL of all things wicker, and decided I wanted to try my hand at a wicker basket feature wall! This is such an easy, inexpensive way to add visual interest to a smaller space! Here are some tips and a quick tutorial for assembling your own!

  1. Choose baskets in a variety of sizes and shades. Avoid ones with handles. I had a tough time finding a variety of shades, so I ended up staining a couple of them with some wood stain I had on hand.
  2. It’s helpful to arrange the baskets on the floor first to get an idea of how you want it to look, then take a picture of it so you know exactly how to arrange them on the wall.
  3. Pick one of the larger baskets as your focal point and arrange the baskets around it. Create an overlapping look as shown above. As you arrange them, keep in mind that the baskets should taper off till you have one basket on each end. You can go as big or as simple as you want with this! I was working with a small wall in a small space, and I just wanted something simple that would add visual interest above our TV, but you may want to add more baskets for a bigger wall and space.
  4. Using a hammer and nails, attach the baskets to the wall. Try to put the nail as close to the center of the basket as possible. This will help the basket hang flush to the wall.

Hope this helps you to create your Pinterest-perfect feature wall! Be sure to post a photo of yours and tag @chalkfulloflove. Happy crafting!
